Your space is already shaping what people think, feel and understand about your business.
We help you make more of that opportunity. A space can make a business easier to navigate, bring an important idea to life, strengthen the experience of being there or make what is distinctive much harder to miss. The opportunity isn’t simply to put the brand into the space, it’s to consider what the space can contribute to the brand.
A better experience can be practical.
People need to understand where they are, where they’re going and how to get there. Wayfinding and wayshowing are part of how a place treats people. Even directional and functional signs can be additional brand gestures that, when considered, can meaningfully improve an experience.
Showing how to navigate a large or multi-use space reduces a lot of friction.
When you have an existing space, you can’t always make it intuitive to navigate. Wayfinding and sign systems can help people move through your space without guessing, which ultimately puts them more at ease from their first visit. When something is easy, you remember the experience as positive, if it’s a hassle, it can quickly give a negative connotation to the overall experience. We help identify the issues and the opportunities to make the experience better for your space.
What could your space be doing better?
A new building, renovation or expansion can create an obvious opportunity. But somethimes the place you already have simply isn’t contributing enough.
HERCULEAN Prepared Meals
Make the space help explain the business.
As HERCULEAN prepared to open multiple new locations, its stores needed to do more than reflect the brand. They needed to make the business easier to understand while becoming simpler and more consistent to build.
We developed a more repeatable approach that reduced the retail footprint, put greater emphasis on the freezers and product, replaced unnecessary murals with better materials and used more explicit messaging throughout the space. The resulting system gives new customers a quicker understanding of HERCULEAN while giving the company a clearer foundation for each new location.
GRINDS HQ
Make the workplace help the team feel at home.
When GRINDS moved from Oakland to a new headquarters in Westfield, they wanted the space to reflect the small but mighty team they had built. Rather than simply adding art to the walls, we created an environment around TEAM GRINDS. We brought their values and team mentality into the space with a subtle nod to the energy of a stadium. The result gives people something to discover while making the headquarters a more distinctive and enjoyable place to spend every day.
Your space doesn’t have to be new to work better.
Businesses change. Teams grow, locations expand and the way a space is used evolves. Sometimes the opportunity becomes clearer after you’ve lived with a place for a while. We can help identify what’s missing, what’s worth changing and where the space can contribute more.
Tactive
Giving an existing workplace more personality.
Large industrial buildings deserve attention too. Especially when you’re not just a commodity manufacturer. When you produce at scale, but also value employees, host customers and support your community, your building is an opportunity to brighten the neighborhood, signal your values and make every morning a little more joyful for your employees.
SIDEDOOR BAGEL
Make more of a change that’s already happening.
When Sidedoor expanded into the neighboring storefront, we used the opportunity to reconsider how the brand showed up in the larger space rather than simply repeating what was already there.
TINKER
Giving an established brand a place to live.
When Tinker moved into a new headquarters, and then to the Indianapolis Airport, we worked to create a visual language for their physical environment that felt distinctly theirs without simply repeating the brand throughout.
Sometimes you just need to make a bigger impression.
A facade, wall sign or unexpected moment can give a place more presence and make the business behind it easier to recognize and remember. Not everything needs a huge system behind it. Sometimes one well-placed idea can do a lot of work.
Sometimes the brand and the place grow together.
When we’re involved early, the physical experience can become part of the brand itself. Identity, messaging and space can reinforce one another from the beginning, creating something that feels considered as a whole.
How can your space help your business?
Your business has already built recognition, relationships and trust. The job isn’t to change everything through space. It’s to understand what’s already working, what’s holding it back and what will help you get where you want to go next.
