Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Indiana

Defining the opportunity of an existing space.
BBBSCI had a prominent exterior wall and an opportunity to say something meaningful with it. Instead of simply extending the identity or adding an artist’s work, we worked with the board and staff to consider the impact of mentorship beyond a single relationship. That became “Indy Shines when You Share Your Light,” and idea that began in the space and became language the organization could carry beyond it. We adapted the background motif, but added more color and contrast for the interior spaces as well, adding interest and depth without shouting. As a whole this project activated underutilized space to help BBBSCI live its message. The board, the staff, the Bigs, the Littles and every passerby gets to share in a more inviting space.

TACTIVE

Turning an overlooked building into a destination.

Tactive wanted its headquarters to better reflect the technology company and clientele behind it. We treated the entire industrial property as an opportunity, using the building, semi-trailers and exterior surfaces to create a more distinctive presence. The transformation helped Tactive stand out from its industrial surroundings and feel more connected to the growing technology and innovation district taking shape around 16 Tech.

TINKER COFFEE

Make the outside reflect what’s happening inside.

Tinker had grown into a recognizable local brand, but its industrial headquarters did little to communicate the energy of the business inside. We used the exterior as an opportunity to create a stronger presence—making the building more distinctive, engaging for people passing by and representative of a company deeply connected to its community.

SMOKING GOOSE

Turn an industrial building into a recognizable place.

Smoking Goose makes distinctive products and has deep roots in Indianapolis, but its production facility could easily disappear among the industrial buildings around it. We used the exterior to give the business a more visible presence, creating something people could notice, recognize and connect with the work happening inside.
